The Wheel of Life Reflection Exercise
Activity:
The Wheel of Life is a popular coaching tool that helps you reflect on your life’s current balance and consider areas for improvement. Here’s how you can do the Wheel of Life reflection exercise:
1. Draw the Wheel: Create a large circle on a piece of paper and divide it into 8 or more equal segments, each representing a different area of your life (e.g., Career, Finance, Health, Family & Friends, Romance, Personal Growth, Fun & Recreation, and Physical Environment).
2. Label the Segments: Write the name of each life area in its segment.
3. Rate Your Satisfaction: Reflect on each area of your life and rate your level of satisfaction on a scale of 0 (very unsatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied). Mark the corresponding number in each segment.
4. Draw Your Wheel: Connect the marks in each segment to create a new outer edge for your wheel. This will visually represent your life balance.
5. Reflect and Analyze: Look at the shape of your wheel. Is it balanced or are there areas that are much lower than others? Reflect on what a balanced life looks like for you.
6. Set Goals: Choose one or two areas you wish to improve. Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals for each.
7. Create an Action Plan: Decide what steps you need to take to reach your goals. Break them down into smaller, manageable tasks.
8. Act and Reflect: Start working on your action plan. Periodically review your wheel and adjust your goals and plans as your life changes and as you grow.
